Punjab Eyes Blue Economy Boost as CM Maryam Orders Feasibility Plan for Shrimp Farming

LAHORE (AIA) Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed officials to prepare a feasibility plan for large-scale shrimp farming on 50,000 acres across the province, aiming to capitalize on the region’s export potential.
Chairing a high-level meeting in Lahore, she was informed that Punjab has already successfully exported shrimp worth millions of rupees, indicating strong prospects for scaling up aquaculture.
In addition, the meeting reviewed the Magnificent Punjab app, developed to enhance tourism by providing visitors with accessible, detailed information about the province’s attractions.
The Chief Minister instructed relevant departments to design comprehensive development plans for each tourist destination to elevate Punjab’s tourism industry to global standards.
