Senate Pays Tribute to Allama Iqbal, Calls for Wider Promotion of His Philosophy

ISLAMABAD (AIA) The Senate on Tuesday adopted a resolution honoring the 148th birth anniversary of Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal, urging the integration of his poetic and philosophical legacy into educational curricula and national discourse. Senator Sherry Rehman moved the motion, highlighting Iqbal’s role as the “Poet of the East” and architect of the vision for a separate Muslim homeland, notably through his 1930 Allahabad Address.
The resolution calls on government bodies, civil society, and academic institutions to organize seminars, events, and cultural programs that reflect Iqbal’s ideals of self‑realization (Khudi), unity, courage, and excellence. It also encourages the youth to embrace his messages of self‑belief and mutual respect as a foundation for building a progressive, just, and prosperous Pakistan. The Senate resolved to observe Iqbal Day annually not only as a remembrance but as a recommitment to his vision for humanity.
