BEIJING (AIA) Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, inaugurated the Pakistan Pavilion at the 31st China Yangling Agricultural High-Tech Fair on Wednesday, alongside the Vice Governor of Shaanxi Province. Running from October 25–29, the fair is a prominent international platform for agricultural innovation and collaboration. Pakistan’s participation builds on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Shaanxi in June, when he explored the Yangling Agriculture Demonstration Zone.
A highlight of the event, the Pakistan Pavilion featured traditional products and crafts, attracting strong interest from Chinese and international attendees. Numerous Pakistani businesses showcased their products, reinforcing Pakistan’s agricultural and cultural ties with China and other participants.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ambassador Hashmi highlighted the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and China, emphasising agriculture as a key area for collaboration. “This forum allows countries to exchange valuable knowledge on agricultural advancements and pursue innovations essential for modernisation and food security,” he stated. Hashmi also met with Shaanxi Governor Zhao Gang and other officials to discuss further collaboration.
Ambassador Hashmi also visited Northwest A&F University, where he participated in the Yangling Modern Agricultural S&T Forum, delivering a speech on “Climate Change: Cooperation, Innovation, and Response.” Recognised as the “Olympic Games of Agriculture,” the Yangling High-Tech Fair draws over 10,000 agricultural enterprises, scientific bodies, and educational institutions from more than 70 countries. With Pakistan as this year’s Guest of Honour, the event highlights cutting-edge advancements in agriculture under the theme, New Quality Productivity: A New Future for Agriculture, offering an unparalleled venue for global exchange and innovation in agricultural science and technology.
